The countryside and friendly people of Cambodia make for a great experience to travel and photograph, Most people who take the time to go beyond the main cities and towns sites come back with memorable experiences.
The centre of Cambodia is dominated by the vast Tonle Sap Lake and its floodplain. The northern boundary with Thailand is marked by the natural escarpment the Dangrek mountains and the famous Preah Vihear temple. To the east of the Mekong river, the hills of Rattankiri and Mondalkiri are an undeveloped wilderness, with some of South East Asia's last remaining wild elephants.
To the south the Mekong and the Tonle Sap river systems merge lazily to the Mekong Delta.
Some of the Most dramatic scenery lies to the south west with the high plateau of Bokor and the Cardamom Mountains. The coastline here has Cambodia's resorts of Kep and the resort port of Sihanoukville. The limestone karst hills and caves extend northwards to Battembang and Palin with lovely country scenes as pictured here.
Cambodia is a developing county; so with increasing wealth and better infrastructure; there will be more mechanization and less reliance of beasts of burden. Roads outside the main routes are often very bad in the wet season. things are improving and most major roads are now paved.
Thailand ,Malaysia and Vietnam used to be similar to this 30 or more years ago; but rural scenes with farmers using water buffalo a comparatively rare now. A lot of the rural scenes captured here may be not be seen in the future; so if you come here now you will be seeing a unique living history!
